Joel James MS has today visited Llancaiach Fawr Manor ahead of the festive season before the site is closed to the public at the end of the year.
Given the response to the recent petition, the Council’s plans to mothball the site have deeply upset the wider community who cherish and see Llancaiach Fawr as a community treasure.
Speaking after the visit, Joel said:
It has been mixed emotions for me today at Llancaiach Fawr Manor- I've visited it all my life and have some tremendous memories.
It's where I first picked up a bow and arrow, which led me to join Llandaff City Bowmen when I was younger, and more recently, I've had hours of fun doing their paranormal investigations.
Sadly, today is its final day, and Caerphilly County Borough Council are closing it - which is an absolutely scandalous decision, especially when it sits on nearly £200,000,000 in reserves. I only hope that they see the error of their ways and reopen it in the not too distant future.
