Speaking on the news that both schools will remain open, Joel James MS, who supported the campaigns and joined Tref Y Rhyg Primary School on their protest walk against the closure commented:
It's so great to hear that Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have decided against closing Tref Y Rhyg Primary School and Trallwng Infants School.
This is such a fantastic outcome and testament to the brilliant work everyone has done in opposing these closures - especially Tref Y Rhyg PTA and Save Trallwng Infants.
