Joel James MS has today met with Community Pharmacy Wales in the Welsh Parliament to discuss the Flu Vaccination and the benefits this jab can bring.
Having the flu is more likely to be serious if you have a long-term health condition, are pregnant, or are older. The flu can also be serious for young children.
You can get the free NHS flu vaccine if you are in one of the following groups:
- Are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31st March 2025)
- Have certain long-term health conditions
- Are pregnant
- Live in a care home
- Are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
- Live with someone who has a weakened immune system
Frontline health and social care workers can also get a flu vaccine through their employer.
Speaking after the meeting, Joel said:
It was brilliant to catch up with Community Pharmacy Wales today in the Welsh Parliament and discuss the benefits of the Flu Vaccination.
As we head into the cold and flu season, I’ll be getting one and if you’re eligible, it’s completely free.
