Joel James MS, the newest member of the Welsh Parliament's Equalities and Social Justice Committee, has today taken part in a Committee visit to Dylan's Den in Treorchy.
Dylan's Den, a not-for-profit social enterprise located in Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, is based at Treorchy Primary School, and delivers a range of childcare provisions.
Provisions include a playgroup and wraparound care for children aged 2-4, and an after school and holiday club for children aged 3-11.
The Senedd Equality and Social Justice Committee is currently undertaking follow up work on its inquiry into childcare and parental employment which was concluded in January 2022. The Committee is revisiting this area to see what progress has been made and what work there is still to do, to improve childcare provision in Wales.
Speaking after the visit, Joel James MS said:
It was really great to visit Dylan's Den today in Treorchy to learn more about the childcare provision that they offer, which looks absolutely brilliant! I've recently joined the Welsh Parliament's Equalities and Social Justice Committee, and we're looking into the issues that the sector and parents are facing, in the hopes of identifying positive recommendations that can be implemented.
