Joel James MS has today sponsored a stand at the Senedd's first-ever Y Farchnad (Marketplace) event with Ehlers-Danlos Support UK.
The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of thirteen individual genetic conditions, all of which affect the body’s connective tissue. In EDS, a gene mutation causes a certain kind of connective tissue – the kind will depend on the type of EDS but usually a form of collagen – to be fragile and stretchy. This stretchiness can sometimes be seen in the skin of someone with EDS; individuals with the condition may also be able to extend their joints further than usual.
The new-style Senedd event which replaces the previous weekly drop-in sessions for Members, also allowed Joel to meet with other stall holders including Openreach and the National Deaf Children's Society.
Going forward, it is hoped that the monthly Y Farchnad will bring a range of issues, community groups and topics to the forefront, with representatives hosting a stand in a marketplace set-up, where guests can drop in and meet with visiting organisations throughout the day.
Speaking after the event, Joel said:
It was great to sponsor the Ehlers-Danlos Support UK stand at the first-ever Y Farchnad in the Welsh Parliament today.
It was also brilliant to meet other great organisations like Openreach, One Voice Wales - Un Llais Cymru, the National Deaf Children's Society, the Fire Brigades Union, RNIB Cymru, LINK Scheme Ltd and Mentrau Iaith.
Lots of interesting points to take forward and I look forward to working together with them across my region.
