Responding to reports that SWFRS Commissioners knew about allegations against Stuart Millington before his appointment, Joel James MS, Shadow Minister for Social Partnership, said:
Regardless of whether the claims of bullying, harassment and discrimination are held up against Stuart Millington, the fact that not all the commissioners were aware of the claims shows the lack of transparency and raises questions about whether some commissioners have deliberately concealed information. This clearly shows the unsuitability of those appointed to enact change in SWFRS.
The fact that Mr Millington was appointed while still awaiting the tribunal demonstrates a severe lack of professional judgement by the commissioners.
It’s time for Welsh Government to take control of this process so there can be direct accountability for decision making.
