Regional Senedd Member Joel James MS, visited Royal Mail's Cardiff Delivery Office and Mail Centre on Penarth Road during the early hours of this morning, meeting with staff about the pressures of the Christmas period.
Meeting with Royal Mail’s veteran employees, Joel heard how mail deliveries have changed in recent years with more houses than ever to deliver to and an increase in the number of parcels being sent with tight turnarounds.
Joel also heard about the abuse staff receive whilst out on their delivery rounds from members of the public and how this can affect staff morale.
Speaking after his visit, Joel said:
It was an early start today, but it was brilliant to visit Royal Mail's Cardiff Delivery Office and Mail Centre to see firsthand all the work that goes into making sure we get our mail.
Understandably, Christmas is their busiest time of the year, but our postmen and women are doing a fantastic job, and I can't thank them enough for what they do.
