Today marks World Diabetes Day and Joel James MS raised awareness of this day by attending Diabetes UK Cymru’s Senedd Event at the Pierhead.
The event shared a report on the two themes of the day, Access to Diabetes Care in Wales and Education of Diabetes to Protect Tomorrow. The event also looked ahead to diabetes care in Wales, noting the new Quality Statement for Diabetes Care with an opportunity for healthcare professionals and other organisations to highlight their work to improve access to care and education about diabetes in Wales.
Speaking after the event, Joel said:
It was really great to attend an event in the Welsh Parliament celebrating World Diabetes Day - hosted by Diabetes UK Cymru
This year is especially important because it marks 100 years since scientists Frederick Banting and John Macleod were awarded the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in recognition of their discovery of insulin.
