Back in September, Joel James MS was invited by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board to visit the future Llantrisant Health Park at the former British Airways Llantrisant site.
Funded by the Welsh Government, the site will follow several phases to build a joint new diagnostic and surgical centre of excellence for Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to improve care and access to services for thousands of patients each year.
The purchase of the three former British Airways buildings on the site close to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital will feature theatre hubs with a plan to focus on orthopaedic surgery allowing 30 to 35 orthopaedic surgeries to be completed daily.
Speaking at the former British Airways site, Joel said:
It was really great to visit the site of what will become Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board's new diagnostic and surgical centre of excellence in Llantrisant with Dr Altaf Hussain MS and other Members.
It's looking to become a cutting-edge facility, which will deliver maximum benefits for patients and help to streamline waiting lists within the health boards.
