During First Ministers Questions this week, Joel James MS, Member of the Senedd for South Wales Central questioned the Welsh Government on the closed Taff Vale Practice in Cilfynydd as well as raising concerns about the surgery in Ynysybwl.
Joel James took the opportunity to ask the First Minister given the difficulties associated with public transport in the village, what steps the Welsh Government is taking to work with the local authority and the health board to provide better transport options, and to also promote the use of community transport operators as a viable short-term alternative, whilst residents wait for their surgery to reopen.
Speaking about his contribution to the Senedd, Joel said:
Since my election in 2021, I have been bringing up the issue of the closed Taff Vale Practice in Cilfynydd with the Welsh Government constantly, and sadly it now looks like the practice managers want to close the surgery in Ynysybwl as well.
This week I was able to bring up the issue again in the Welsh Parliament, in the hope that short-term transport options could be sought to help out local residents who have become isolated. It was not the best of responses from the Welsh Government, but I will continue to fight for residents on this.
