This week, Joel James MS, alongside his South Wales Central colleague Andrew RT Davies, visited the iconic Vulcan Hotel which recently reopened at St Fagans.
After 170 years, the Vulcan closed its doors and in 2012 the owners- Marcol Asset Management – formally offered the building to Amgueddfa Cymru. In May of that year, St Fagans' Curators and Historic Buildings Unit began the process of carefully recording The Vulcan Hotel before starting the dismantling process. This May, the pub reopened and is now a popular attraction at the museum.
Speaking about his visit, Joel said:
It was brilliant to visit The Vulcan Hotel at St Fagans National Museum of History with my South Wales Central colleague Andrew RT Davies to hear about the process of relocating and rebuilding one of Cardiff’s iconic pubs.
The process of dismantling the Vulcan, brick by brick first began in 2012, but now, displayed as it was in 1915, you can choose to enjoy a drink in The Vulcan, or just visit and experience the atmosphere of such a historic building. It’s definitely worth a visit!
