In the latest edition of Joel James MS' social media series, 'Throwback Thursday', Joel has highlighted a visit to Tŷ Hafan Children's Hospice in Sully to see the brilliant work they are doing supporting children and their families.
Joel was given a tour of the hospice, including accommodation for children, and their families, the gardens and therapy and sensory rooms and heard about the work they are doing to ensure that no one in Wales lives their child’s short life alone.
This week, Tŷ Hafan and Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith visited the Welsh Parliament to mark Children’s Hospice Week 2024.
A giant butterfly was brought to the steps of the Senedd, made up of 3655 smaller butterflies to represent every child in Wales with a life shortening or life-threatening condition. 3251 butterflies were in grey, and 10% were in bright, full colour. These colourful butterflies represent the children that Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith can reach.
As part of the event, Tŷ Hafan and Tŷ Gobaith are calling on the Welsh Government to help them reach more of the children in Wales who may want or need their support, and ensure that those children they work with have the best quality of life.
Speaking about his recent visit and Children's Hospice Week, Joel said:
Last year, I was fortunate to visit the fantastic Tŷ Hafan Children's Hospice in Sully and see the brilliant work they are doing supporting children and their families.
This Children’s Hospice Week, I’m supporting Tŷ Gobaith and Tŷ Hafan who are calling on the Welsh Government to provide them with support, help and funds so that they can be there for every child and family who turn to them.
