As part of Joel James MS’ Throwback Thursday social media series, the Member for South Wales Central has shared photographs from the Ludlow Food Festival which was held in 2022, where he was invited to be a judge at the beer contest.
Invited by the Society of Independent Brewers to the Wales and West Independent Beer Competition and Awards, Joel James MS was asked to take part in some beer judging to help find the best Wales and West beer and take part in the Awards Ceremony.
The SIBA Independent Beer Awards represents the very best beer across Wales and West and are judged at the event by fellow brewers and industry experts to find the annual champions.
The event, held at Ludlow Castle, also provided the opportunity to meet with locally-based small brewers.
Speaking after the event, Joel said:
It was brilliant to judge the Wales and West Independent Beer Competition in Ludlow Castle. I’m so grateful to the Society of Independent Brewers for inviting me along for the day due to my involvement in the Senedd’s Cross Party Group for Beer and Pubs – it was a surreal experience and I can’t wait to judge the competition again.
It was also so great to meet brewers from right across Wales and the West Country, like the fantastic Bewdley Brewery and Cardiff's very own Zerodegrees.
