The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) published a report in January, ‘ending corridor care in Wales’, which offered eight recommendations to the Welsh Government, described as “common sense” by the Welsh Conservatives.
The Welsh Conservatives put these recommendations before the Senedd on Wednesday (19/02/25) for a vote. The vote did not pass as Labour Members voted against the motion.
However, it was noted by the Welsh Conservatives that the vast majority of the 30 Labour Senedd Members did not even attend the debate, prompting significant outcry on social media.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Senedd Member for South Wales Central, Joel James MS said:
Fixing the Welsh NHS and ending the corridor care crisis, should be the number one priority of Senedd Members, but Labour clearly disagrees.
The eight RCN recommendations put forward by the Welsh Conservatives were common sense and not controversial. Yet Labour Senedd Members voted against them, with most of them not even bothering to turn up to the debate.
Do Labour even care about the Welsh NHS?
