Following a busy day on Thursday (11th May), Joel James MS enjoyed an evening of music and storytelling by attending a performance by The Devil’s Violin in the Valleys Kids Soar Centre, Penygraig.
The Devil’s Violin is a trio made up of Daniel Mordan – who tells the stories, Oliver Wilson-Dickson – who plays the violin, and Sarah Moody – who plays the cello. As a group, they bring together the worlds of music, sound, and story. They aim is to show people how storytelling can be done differently and made interesting. They also aim to highlight the beauty of the arts.
Joel had the pleasure of watching their farewell tour ‘The Beast in Me’ at the Soar Centre in Penygraig, the base of Valleys Kids. During the show, the trio performed a selection of stories which focussed on people’s perception of beauty and the value of kindness.
At the end of the evening, Joel said:
“I must admit, I was not entirely sure what to expect of the show tonight and I have never been to anything like this before. However, it was absolutely incredible, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
The stories that Daniel told were very thought-provoking yet matched perfectly with the music created by Oliver and Sarah.
This trio are doing something different, and it was a pleasure to be able to see them on their farewell tour.”
