Joel James MS attended the Farmers’ Union of Wales’ annual Farmhouse Breakfast at the Lesser Hall in Cowbridge on Thursday the 26th of January.
The event was in aid of the #FUWFarmhouseBreakfastWeek campaign, where breakfast mornings are put on right across Wales. It offers the chance for locals to learn more about the Welsh agricultural sector whilst enjoying the best local produce.
In Cowbridge, Joel was put through his paces in the kitchen and oversaw cooking the most vital ingredients of a traditional cooked breakfast.
After passing this test with flying colours, Joel took the opportunity to discuss some of the current issues facing the farming community. These ranged from the impact of rising inflation on feed and input prices to the effect of climate change.
Speaking after breakfast, Joel commented:
“I was delighted to have joined the Farmers’ Union of Wales and FUW Glamorgan today. It was brilliant to see a full house and everyone enjoying their breakfast.
I was grateful to be able to hear first-hand the issues facing the farming community and to support the DPJ Foundation, a brilliant charity that is working hard to raise awareness of the mental health of those in our agricultural sector. I look forward to coming back next year.”
